Paid coaching creates more coaching.
Good coaching tends to become available once somebody is already relatively senior. I understand why. Companies invest in people with big jobs and big responsibilities.
But imagine having access to the same quality of conversation when you’re in your early career and still working out what you’re capable of. Starting out is tough.
That’s what I want this part of the business to do.
As the commercial coaching grows, a proportion of that work will create free coaching places for young professionals and people early in their careers, with a particular focus on people from underrepresented or less privileged backgrounds who may not have had the same access to professional networks, mentors or opportunities.
The intention is to do this through partnerships.
Universities. Social mobility organisations. Community and professional organisations already working with talented people who would benefit from having someone properly in their corner.
I don’t want this to become a competition where people have to write an essay explaining why they deserve coaching. I want to work with organisations that already know the people.
How it works
Paid coaching funds free coaching
Commercial engagements directly create free coaching places. The exact mechanism is still being worked out, and I'd rather get it right than publish a neat number I can't stand behind.
Partners help find the people
Rather than open applications, the intention is to partner with universities and organisations that already work with the groups this is designed to support.
Same coaching
This is important. The free version is not a watered-down version of the paid one. Same coach. Same attention. Same standard. Because that's the whole point.
